EVTools wins public charger planning tender, 10s of thousands new locations in Dutch Brabant and Limburg provinces

14 March 2025

Software company EVTools has won a European tender flanked by its partners Arcadis and Stantec. Under this contract, our software will be used to plan future public charging infrastructure for electric vehicles in collaboration with local and regional authorities, charge point operators, and the grid operator. Our software and data stack makes sure this follows expected charging demand towards 2030 and takes into account numerous policy and spacial restrictions and opportunities.

We are incredibly proud to contribute to the acceleration of sustainable mobility in the southern Netherlands with our innovative software. The 87 local authorities within the region will receive up-to-date forecasts fed  by data on current charger usage and grid contraints. Tens of thousands of potential charging locations will be planned in only 4 months time.

We will tackle this efficiently using our advanced software. All stakeholders will be involved in the implementation process, enabling them to provide input and suggestions through our technology. This collaborative approach allows local authorities and charge point operators to accelerate the rollout process by more than 5 months and efficiently achieve goals. We will enable stakeholders to keep track of their information though a multi-year licence period, changing the network as it it rolled out through our user friendly interface.

Our software leverages the latest innovations, including artificial intelligence (AI), to automatically exclude zones and locations where charging points cannot be installed. Additionally, we utilise consumption data from existing charging stations to refine location selection based on data-driven insights: more charging facilities are placed where usage is higher. Our software integrates with charge point operators and municipalities, ensuring they have continuous independent access to data. This contributes to the availability of data and the standardisation of charging planning software in the Netherlands and Europe.

To provide municipalities with the best possible support, we are undertaking this large-scale project in partnership with Arcadis and Stantec. We look forward to working together with all stakeholders to realise a sustainable future for electric transport as part of the energy transition.
