Setting up a public charging network is a complex process. One of the biggest challenges for municipalities is data transfer: a resident submits an application via a municipal portal, and that information must then be transferred to EVTools without any errors. Until recently, this was often done manually. Product Owner Jeroen explains how the new API link fully automates this process.
No more "over-typing"
“We noticed that project managers at municipalities were spending a lot of time manually entering applications that came in from elsewhere,” says Jeroen. “That’s not only time-consuming, but also prone to errors. With our API link, we close the chain. An application made on your own platform is immediately forwarded to the workflow in EVTools.”
How it works
The API acts as a digital bridge. As soon as a resident submits an application, it is automatically created in the appropriate workflow within EVTools.
- Immediate validation: The data is checked upon receipt.
- No duplication of work: The project manager can start the assessment immediately in the familiar environment of EVTools.
- Full control: The municipality decides for itself which source data is forwarded.
The benefits for the municipality
According to Jeroen, the link delivers immediate returns: "The biggest advantage is speed and data quality. The turnaround time for an application is significantly reduced because no human intervention is required between submission and the start of the assessment. What's more, you can be sure that the applicant's data is transferred one-to-one."
Future-proof scaling
With pressure on public charging infrastructure increasing, scaling up without additional administrative burden is essential. By enabling systems to communicate with each other via the API, you create a scalable process that is ready for tomorrow's growth.
